Hereford x Hungarian Fleckvieh /HE x HF/, /Hereford X Hungarian Fleckvieh/ X Charolaise /HE x HF x CH/ and Canadian Hereford /HE/ young bulls were fed ad libitum with maize silage, rationally maize grits supplemented with protein and mineral matter. The young bulls' performance were evaluated at approximately the same body weight /365-368 kg/. The body weight increase values during fattening were very similar /HE x Hf: 1498 g, HE x HF x CH: 1423 g and HE: 1438 g/ and without significant differences. The differences in body mass production due to one lifeday were already greater /HE x HF: 1286 g/day, HE x HF x CH: 1307 g/day and HE: 1198 g/day. The feed uptake of bulls coming from HE x HF crossing was essentially more favourable /111 g/W0.75/ than of the HE x HF x CH bulls /104 g/W0.75/. The best results were achieved by the Herefords /100 g/W0.75/. Their feed conversion was significantly more favourable than that of the crossbred animals.
