1990
Ferre, A.F.
Five sesame varieties were compared in terms of growth and yield performance during wet season at DSAC [Don Severino Agricultural College, Cavite, Philippines]. These varieties were: (a) ISiO9, (b) ISiO5, (c) ISiO1, (d) ISi14, and (e) Guatemala White, planting covered an area of 525 sq. m arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications. The growth and yield parameters obtained were: (a) average number of fruiting branches, (b) average number of capsule per plant, (c) average number of seeds per capsule, (d) weight of 1000 seeds, (e) average height of plant, (f) number of days from date of emergence to maturity and, (g) yield in kilogram per hectare. In terms of growth parameters like average number of fruiting branches and average height of the plant, variety ISO9 performed well over the rest of the varieties. Similarly, in terms of yield parameters such as: (a) average number of capsule per plant and (b) average number of seed per capsule, variety ISO9 was found to be superior than the rest of the varieties. There were no significant differences among the varieties in terms of average yield.
