Research on soil humidity was conducted with dryer-weighed method on spring barley in the years 1976-85. On the base of soil humidity measurements water reserves were estimated for each 10 cm layer and thickness of strata. Correlation factors between water reserves on each level and layer and spring barley yields were determined by statistical methods. The analysis confirm the possibility of estimating soil levels and layers in which water content has an effect on yield. This method can be used for estimation, important on water consumption point of view, soil levels and layers for other plants
