1990
Concibido, E.C. | Davide, R.G. (Philippine Coconut Authority, Davao City (Philippines))
This study aims to present information about the fruit rot disease for proper diagnosis and safeguard potential production of coconuts. The disease was first reported in Mindanao [Philippines] and known to occur in big coconut plantations. Based on reports, the disease attacks MAWA hybrids, yellow dwarf and orange dwarf cultivars of coconut. It causes abnormal nutfall of unriped nuts due to damage inflicted by Phytophthora found to be associated with the disease. Initial works considered the malady to be unrelated to wet bud rot. However, similar causal pathogen of unidentified species of Phytophthora is constantly isolated.
