Romero, V.A. | Dedal, N.E. (Fiber Industry Development Authority, Region VIII [Eastern Visayas] (Philippines))
Salago wildlings were planted at three different distances, namely: 1m x 1m, 1.5m x 1.5m, and 2.0m x 2.0m. Wider distance produced stouter stalks while closer spacing yielded longer stalks. Salago planted at 1m x 1m produced the highest yield per hectare because it yielded more harvestable plants. Salago first bore flowers and fruits nine months after planting. Fruits ripened after an average of 18.62 days from fruit setting. Plant height increase ranged from 2.92 cm to 16.62 cm per month with the highest increase recorded 11 months after planting.
