The preliminary evaluation of data on Moroccan 549 durum wheat and 167 bread wheat landraces collected in 1986 in six zones in Morocco receiving very different amounts of annual rainfall is summarized. The results indicated a high variability in days to flowering, the presence of dwarf-type landraces, a great variability in the number of spikes/plant in both durum and bread wheat landraces, most of the landraces had a similar number of spikelets/spike, the tetraploid species has a better fertility rate of the spikelets, 58 of the bread wheat landraces and 61 of the durum wheat had 30-50 grains/spike, and the 1000-kernel weight varied highly among the landraces. The durum wheat landraces were more resistant to rusts
