Experiment on the improvement of feeding schedule and the use of artemia containing highly unsaturated fatty acid in rearing of Penaeus monodon Fabricius Larvae
1988
Thammanoon Nganwisuthiphan
When Chaetoceros sp. was fed to Penaeus monodon larvae at second day of nauplius stage, no improvement of survival rate of the larvae reaching protozoa stage was observed. However, survival rate of two days old protozoa were significantly higher comparing to control which start feeding at first day of protozoa. Application of Chaetoceros sp. as supplementary feed to the main diet did not result in better survival rate of the larvae in mysis and post larva stage as well as the addition of rotifer to the main diet of protozoa and mysis stage which did not show any significant effect on survival rate of the larvae. Increasing HUFA in Artemia nauplii either by incubation with Selco or feeding with Chaetoceeros sp. had no significant effect on survival rate of mysis and post larva.
