The effect of applied fertilization on certain properties of flue--cured tobacco: Chemical properties
1988
Cavlek, M. | Tursic, I. | Filipovic, B. (Duhanski institut, Zagreb (Yugoslavia))
The tobacco varieties Drava, GV3 x McNair 944, GV3 x Speight G-28 and McNair 944 were fertilized with 0, 300, 600 and 900 kg/ha of fertilizer mixture NPK/M:14:21. In both year as the rate of chemical fertilizer NPK/7:14:21 increased from 0 to 900 kg/ha the content of nicotine, proteins, total N, CaO, MgO, K2O and ash also increased, while the content of reducing sugars depended on climatic conditions during the vegetation period of tobacco. There were significant differences in some analysed traits among some varieties in the experiment. In the production conditions of northwest Croatia (Yugoslavia) without irrigation, the most important effect on chemical properties of flue--cured tobacco has quantity and distribution of precipitation.
