The effect of different phosphorus concentrations in nutritive medium (0.125, 0.5, 1, 2 and 3 mmol/l) on photosynthesis in leaves and isolated protoplasts, photosynthetic pigments content and dry matter mass of barley plants (Hordeum vulgare L.) was studied. The result obtained showed that the increases in phosphorus concentration in nutritive medium tended to increase the content of phosphorus in plants as well as the photosynthesis of isolated protoplasts. The effect of different phosphorus concentrations on photosynthesis in leaves was much lower than on isolated protoplasts. Dry matter mass per plant was in correlation with photosynthesis in leaves. The contents of chlorophil and carotenoids were similar in all variants of plant nutrition and no effect of different phosphorus concentrations could be found. The results discussed above indicate that the effect of phosphorus depends on parameter studied and research level.
