The diagnostics was carried out for enzootic bovine leukosis (EBL) on two cattle farms exposed to the disease for a prolonged period of time, using agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) test. In addition, influence of Holstein-Friesian blood type (Hf) of bulls whose semen was used for the artificial insemination was investigated for the possible susceptibility of their female offspring to EBL. During the experiment 22 bulls with the varying percentage of Hf blood (0.00%-100.00%) were observed. Their individual service period ranged from 1-9 years during a 12-year total period. Female offspring was composed of the Holstein and East-Friesian heifers and their crossbreds aged 1-11 years of age. The total of 1182 heifers were examined, out of which 306 (25.88%) were diagnosed leukotic. Female offspring with the 100.00% Hf blood on the paternal side suffered from EBL in 28.72% of cases, while those fathered by bulls with 75.00-87.50% Hf blood had EBL in 21.78% of cases. Bulls with 50.00% Hf blood produced 24.59% leukotic females, while heifers fathered by East-Friesian bulls (0.00% Hf blood) were leukotic in 17.31% of cases.
