1. In the fattening of very young bulls the only decisive factor for the fattening outcome was the difference in the crude cellulose content, which amounted to 60,0% (between ration with less and those with more than 7% crude cellulose). 2. In the fattening very young bulls with rations containing under 7% of cellulose a considerably better feed conversion (average 14.4%) and much higher daily weight gains (average 14.5%) were achieved than in young bulls fattened on rations with more than 7% of cellulose. 3. In fattening very young heifers higher or lower cellulose contents had no significant effect either on feed conversion or on daily gains. 4. Numerous research workers in U.S.A. and in Western Europe (as well as here in Yugoslavia) have got optimal results in fattening of young bulls with low cellulose content.
