Despite the impressive number of plant protection studies in Nigeria, a large number of undesirable plant protection practices among rural farmers exist. This study is an examination of the relevance to farmers needs of selected plant protection researches in Nigeria. The farmer contact extension agents served as the source of information. The result shows that the rural farmers' skill, scale of operation and financial status were not taken into consideration in conducting plant protection studies in the country.
