From June 1980 to June 1981 the agronomic characteristics of legume plants, with combined similarities of common vetch and lentil, the so called lenvi and vilen types were evaluated in Chillan. The seeds were collected during several years in commercial plantings of lentil in the 8th Region of Chile. Based on seed production of lenvi and vilen types, the frequency of shapes was determine. The experimental design was a randomized block, with a 3x2x5 factorial arrangement (legumes species, mixture, harvest date): The seed forms in relation to their origin, the characteristics of the growth curve of lenvi, vilen and common vetch, with and without oat are discussed. The data do not give any clue as to the real origin of lenvi and vilen, but demonstrate they share various characteristics with common vetch namely the type of growth curve, phytomass production and productive behavior when grown in a mixture with oat
