Correlation between forest litter and soil macroanimals

In coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest and deciduous broad-leaved forest, the individual number of soil macroanimals in forest litter varies with forest type and thickness and amount of litter. The decomposition rate of litter affects the species composition of soil macroanimals and their distribution. The content of mineral element in litter is well associated with that in soil macroanimals, while the contents of trace elements in both are not significantly correlated. The study revealed the part played by soil macroanimals in biodegradation of forest litter, which provides the foundation for forest management and protection
