Biomass production per leaf area unit in three Scotch pine forest stands

Biomass production per leaf area unit was studied in three Scotch pine forest stands. The forest stands are 57, 70, and 84 years old, with the stocking density of 0,82; 0,90; and 1,90 g.dm-2.year-1, respectively and when the increment of both above - and underground biomass (dry state) is taken into account the respective values are 0,97; 1,05; and 2,51 g.dm-2.year-1. The same values were assesed for the mean trees with different position in the stand (Kraft's tree classes).
