In 6 experimental years the influence of 300 kg.ha-1 of nitrogen on the species-related composition and contents of organic nutrients have been studied in a seminatural grassland situated at 700 m above sea level. Fertilized variants, using 300 kg.ha-1 N (3x100 and 6x50 kg.ha-1 N) were compared under 3-cut and 6-cut conditions with the unfertilized control. The fertilized variants had identical PK nutrient levels (P - 35,20 kg.ha-1, K - 66,40 kg.ha-1). Due to the utilization of unfertilized grassland the grass species showed a highly significant decrease with a corresponding, significant increase in the representation of clover species; the ratio of herbs increased significantly. Both fertilized variants have shown opposite trends. The coverage of grass species increased significantly, that of clover and herb species showed a significant decrease. The statistical evaluation of organic nutrient contents has shown that the presence of fibrous matter, water-soluble glycides, fats and nitrates had been changing insignificantly between the variants similarly fertilized but differently utilized. The protein and starch contents were higher; the contents of N compounds and digestible nitrogen materials were significantly increased in the case of sward utilized by five cuts. The influence of the year was significant with respect to contents of nitrates, proteins, N compounds, digestible nitrogen and starch. The fibrous matter content was significantly influenced. The water-soluble glycides and gross fat contents were influenced as well
