Gun-Sprinkler operation characteristics and its efficiencies
1988
Louizakis, D.A. (Institute of Land Reclamation, Sindos (Greece))
The large Guns are used for stand applications. But their performances, as the highest flow capacities and wetted diameters make their use difficult to obtain best irrigation results. The present experimental outdoor tests, were carried out to serve as a helpful guide to achieve good levels of uniformity. The suggested methodology for studying large sprinkler performances and their efficiencies led to the conclusion that such sprinklers, must be used with caution, because slight variations on operating pressure can change the resulting rain uniformity, greatly. The experimental data, show that best irrigation results can be achieved with 18 mm nozzle size and with a 4-6 bars operating pressure range (Perrot, ZN30W).
