Analysis of A provitamins in plant raw materials and products of plant origin
1990
Harkayne Winkler, M. | Hajdu, F.
Two raw materials considered easily available and much liked, squash (Cucurbita Maxima Duch.) and sweet corn (Zea mays L. var. tunicata Larranh.), were analysed. Two analytical methods were used. One of them was suggested in 1989 for introduction under the title "Processed fruits and vegetables. Determination of carotene" by the Hungarian Bureau of Standards. The other technique applied was HPLC. The first method was carried out on the 8452A DIODA ARRAY SPECTROPHOTOMETER (HEWLETT-PACKARD)L. The biologically active substance was determined by the HPLC method and the total carotenoid content by spectrophotometer. The letter value is higher by +74..+209 o/o. The authors suggest to include both methods in the Hungarian standard.
