So far, there is no evidence that any members of order Tylenchida can transmit plant viruses. Interaction between Meloidogyne spp. and viruses was already reported. The purpose of this experiment was to determine whether TMV in a tomato plant could influence development and pathogenicity of Meloidogyne spp. The experiment was conducted in greenhouse and laboratory, Segunung Horticultural Research Station from April to December 1987. A split plot design was used with various inoculation time of TMV as main plots and population densities of root knot nematodes as sub plots. The result showed that plants inoculated with nematode only were found to have significantly higher final nematodes and gall numbers in the roots than in any other treatments. Final nematodes and gall number in the roots that were inoculated with TMV and Meloidogyne spp. coincided or than that were inoculated with nematodes followed by TMV 7 day later such results indicated that TMV inhibited the reproduction of the root knot nematodes population in the tomato plant.
