Study of the pathological changes and immune response of cutaneous leishmania isolates in laboratory animals
1990
Al-Tamemi, A.A.R.
In this investigation they studied the effects of different doses and the cross immunity between two species of cutaneous leishmanias (Leishmania tropica, L. major) in four groups of hamsters. Delayed hypersensitivity and indirect fluorescent antibody tests (IFAT) were used to measure both cellular and humoral immune responses. No cutaneous lesion was observed in animals inoculated with L. tropica. There was splenomegaly increased total white blood cells count. There was reverse relastionship between number of inoculated parasites and the intensity of delayed hypersensitivity reaction. No relation was observed between the number of inoculated parasites and antibody titre
