Plant density and growth and yield of tomato in an arid climate in Zubair
1988
Khalaf, A.N.
The effect of plant spacing (25, 50, and 75 cm between hills) and plant number (two, three, and four per hill) on the growth and yield of tomato plant cultivar were investigated. The results show that: 1-planting two plants at 75 cm produced the highest number of flowers and the highest percentage of fruit set. 2-planting four plants at 25 cm produced the tallest plants. 3-the highest yield/donum was obtained by planting four plants per hill at 25 cm. 4-planting at 75 cm and two plants per hill increased average fruit weight, percentage dry matter, vitamin C, and total soluble solids except total acidity. 5-the plant spacing and plant number per hill had no effect on fruit shape
