Ammonium and magnesium sulphates fertilizers on moribund tea: 1. effects on yields
1991
Wanyoko, J.K. | Owuor, P.O. | Othieno, C.O.
An experiment was set up to determine the responses of nitrogen as well as magnesium fertilizers on moribund tea. Ammonium sulphate at 0, 75, 150 and 225kg N/ha and magnesium sulphate at 0, 25, 50 and 75kg MgO/ha were aplied annually in a field, lasting for eight years and had become moribund. Results showed that on four out of the eight years, yields decreased linearly with increasing rates of the ammonium sulphate. Magnesium sulphate on the other hand did not have any significant effects on the yields. The implication of the results on fertilizers application to moribund tea is discussed
