Use of experimental feeds in horse fattening and its effect on adult horse production and meat quality

An experiment on 36 adult horses given a diet containing barley straw, meadow hay and concentrate feeds (grass meal, faba beans, ground oats and fats), during the 50 days of fattening period was carried out. A significantly higher weight gain and feed conversion efficiency in the experimental horses than in the control ones fed a diet containing barley straw, meadow hay and ground oats was stated. A beneficial effect of the experimental diet on chemicophysical and organoleptic properties of meat was observed
