Spring triticale MAH-183 was found to take up more macronutrients than spring wheat Kadett when grown in a pot culture. Both species took up all elements at the fastest rate from shooting to a stage immediately prior to earing. Concentrations of the tested macronutrients in the main tiller of triticale were almost twice as high as those in the main tiller of wheat. The reverse was true of lateral tillers. Triticale accumulated more N, P, K and Mg in the grain than wheat
