Predicting grain set failure with tissue boron analysis

Results of this study show that relationships can be established between tissue boron (B) concentration and grain set. A critical B concentration can be defined above which grain set can be expected not to fail. However, below this level, the sharp depression in grain set with decreasing tissue B concentration makes it virtually impossible to separate the different levels of grain set failure. In addition, there is an indication of differences among genotypes
