Kandera, M. (Vyskumny Ustav Rastlinnej Vyroby, Piestany (Slovak Republic))
The effect of increased nitrogen doses on crop and grain quality of spring barley on loamy and clay-loamy degraded chernozem was observed. The highest average grain crop (8.24 t.ha-1) was achieved after the 60 kg of N.ha-1 rate in the experimental years. Weather was a factor influencing considerably the harvested crop. Applying graded nitrogen rates (in comparison with pk-fertilizers) reduced the grain volume weight and TGW. The amylum and extract content, as well as a share of 2.5 mm grains decreased, while the undesirable crude protein content in grain increased.
