Six-week-old mixed-breed ducks were inoculated oronasally with 1976 Chachoengsao isolate of duck plague virus (DPV). Tissues of experimental injected ducks at various periods following infection were used for ultrastructural studies. The viral developmental forms of DPV were observed in ultrathin sections of esophagus, liver, spleen and intestine. Particles exhibiting the size, morphology and developing maturation process characteristic of herpesvirus were seen in both the nucleus and cytoplasm by transmission electron microscopy
