Effect of pore-size on penetration by sugarcane roots
1990
Srivastava, A.K. (Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow (India))
Sugarcane cultivars Co 1148 and CoJ 64 were grown in sand on sieves having average opening of 1000, 500 and 250 micrometer. Pore-size of sieves markedly influenced the penetration by sugarcane roots. Only 2.35 and 3.3 % roots of Co 1148 and CoJ 64, respectively, could pass through 250 micrometer openings.
