Boonsong Sirikul (Kung Kraben Study and Development Center, Chanthaburi (Thailand))
Studies on the production of P. monodon in ponds have been done in 8 crops at the stocking rates of 1, 4, 8, 12, 13, 15, 23 and 41 per square meter. The prawn were fed with trash fish and pelletised formula feed having approximately 20 - 30 % protein content. Highest production of P. monodon could get 290.64 and 318.0 kg./rai from the stocking densities of 12 and 23 per square meter during rearing period of 7-8 months. The size of prawn attained ranges from 25.7 - 39.09 gm. at the survival rates of 56.5 and 21.7 %.
