Availability and utilization of animal feed resources for ruminant production in Bangladesh
1991
Saadullah, M.
This paper highlighted the inadequacy of feed resources for ruminant production in Bangladesh, stressing the need to use all available feeds efficiently as well as to increase the availability of domestic production to meet the deficiencies of nutrient requirement for ruminants. Given the present constraints of ruminant feed resources, the extension mechanism may be reorganized and messages to the farmers to increase the productivity of their livestock can now be based on the facts generated from past few years of research on urea treatment of straw inside and regional countries. Agro-industrial by-products like urea, molasses in the form of urea molasses block lick and marine wastes were found to be effective in increasing animal productivity compared to the traditional concentrates like oil-cake and bran.
