Constraints, achievements and prospects of pulses breeding in Bangladesh
1990
Shaikh, M.A.Q. | Rahman, M.M.
Pulses research is a comparatively recent venture in Bangladesh. Although nine species are generally grown, research efforts have been mainly confined to five only. There are some very promising mutants of all the five important pulses in various generations following mutagenic treatments. The impressive results and the genetically improved materials at hand indicate that there is a considerable fair prospect of pulse improvement through various methods of plant breeding. Described briefly the constraints for and the achievements in pulse breeding efforts.
