Occurrence and species structure of nematodes of the family Longidoridae, including nematodes - virus vectors and incidence of viral diseases, were studied at eight selected vineyard localities in Slovakia. All the studied localities showed the presence of nematodes of the family Longidoridae. Four species have been identified - Xiphinema italiae, X. pachtaicum, X. vuittenezi and Longidorus juvenilis. At all the localities, X. vuittenezi occurred either alone or in mixed populations together with other species. Of the mentioned species, it is X. italiae that has been determined as a virus-vector. Two localities yielded grapevine fanleaf virus (GFLV) and two others arabis mosaic virus (AMV). The localities with GFLV also showed the presence of X. vuittenezi and X. pachtaicum and those with AMV the presence of all the nematode species detected.
