Evaluation of some radish cultivars (Raphanus sativus, var. radicula) in view of nitrate accumulation capability

In exact micro-plot trials, carried out for two five years, 10 radish cultivars in total were evaluated in view of nitrate accumulation capability. Sowings in the glasshose were performed in the first decade of March, in the field in the first decade of April. The lowest accumulation capacity was manifested by the Korund cultivar (on average 1,158.7 ppm of NaNO3 in the field conditions), the highest by the Helios cultivar (on average 1,876.7 ppm of NaNO3). The lowest accumulation capacity was displayed by the cultivars Granat and Vera in the cold glasshouse, the highest by the Duo cultivar. Varieties cultivated in conditions of cold glasshouse manifested higher nitrate content by one third to one half than the same cultivars in field conditions.
