Mildew populations of barley and wheat in Sweden [powdery mildew]
1991
Wiik, L.
Barley and wheat powdery mildew sensitivity to propiconazole (a. i. in Tilt 250 EC and Tilt Top) has decreased up to 1986 in barley mildew and 1987 in wheat mildew, however, the powdery mildew populations are again more sensitive to propiconazole. This may be due to an increased use of fenpropimorph and tridemorph and the introduction of the mixture of propiconazole and fenpropimorph, Tilt Top. In powdery mildew of spring barley an increase of the Ar and Ly virulence frequency was observed during 1987-1989. The increase in Ar frequency is probably due to the increased use of varieties with this resistance gene in Sweden and Denmark. In powdery mildew of wheat no major changes in virulence frequencies were observed durillg 1988-1989. A smaller increase was observed on Longbow (Pm2) and Sleipner (Pm2+Pm6+Pm8)
