Effect of crude fiber on performance of pigs
1993
Nigul, L. (Institute of Animal Breeding and Veterinary Science, Tartu (Estonia))
Regression analysis, based on experimental data, showed that after increasing the crude fiber content in the feed to the level which is one per cent higher than the level recommended by Soviet standards (5.2%), the gain of fattening pigs reduced by 19.65 g whereas the feed expenditure increased by 0.185 FU kg(-1). According to the presented calculations feeding pigs on processed peat was stopped in Estonia as the peat does not improve the feeds, but rather increases the food deficiency
