Transformation trends in cattle breeding of the former socialist countries

In cattle breeding, it is the agricultural policy of the European Community, the prevalence of the regularities of the production and the international market which are the main determining forces among the economic factors influencing this sector, on the basis of which the decrease of cattle stock can be expected in the Eastern-European countries. The conditions of Hungary - that is the large stocks of cheap massfeed, the expectable more rational utilization of grasslands, etc. - would primarily justify the development of the meat-producing and dual purpose breed stocks. In this case, by the improvement of quality and processing degree, a part of the traditional slaughter cattle markets can be reconquered
