Sujarwo, E. (Klinik Hewan Rasau Jaya I, Pontianak (Indonesia)) | Stoltz, D.R.
Causes of high mortality of imported Brahman Cross cattle in a transmigration site in Rasau Jaya, Pontianak District, West Kalimantan, were investigated. Total deaths from the time of distribution in November, 1988 to April 1990, were 200 head or 18.5 percent of adults and 40 calves or 11.9 percent of calves born. Data indicated three contributing factors: i) heavy gastrointestinal parasite burdens, especially Haemonchus, Mecistocirrus and Cooperia; ii) copper deficiency; and iii) underfeeding. Sodium and phosphorus deficiencies may also be important in Rasau Jaya
