An experiment has been done to evaluate some characterictics of partially defatted peanut. Evaluation was made on eight peanut genotypes, i.e. Pelanduk, Kidang, Kelinci, Gajah, Rusa, Tupai, line SHM 1509 Si, and line SHM 1512 Si. Defatting was done by using a hydraulic pressure at capacity 12.5 ton for 15 minutes. The results indicated that there were some significant variations in physical and chemical characteristics of partially defatted peanut as affected by genotypes. The decrease in bulk density, 100 seed mass, the length, width, length: width ratio of seed were observed, in addition to the decrease in fat content and calorie value. On the other hand, significant increase were found in protein, carbohydrate, and ash contents. Among genotype observed, Tupai and Gajah varieties reduced partially defatted peanut with better physical and chemical characteristics than those of other genotypes.
