The Rottboellia cochinchinensis L. Clayton in Camming is called "asang-asang" grass. It is a competitive weed and difficult to control. The observation in Camming sugarcane area indicated that this weed grows in early or end of the rainy season. Their seeds germinate well on humid regardless if they are covered or not. Their germination lasts in two stages. On ratoon cane which was harvested at the end of rainy season, the seeds germinate uniformly soon after shaving cane. On plant cane which was planted at early rainy season their germination lasts in two stages. The growth of weeds was different between weed growing in and out of cane field. In cane field weeds produce more tiller, than out of plantation. On plant cane, weed tillers can reach 276.5, while on ratoon its tillers normally are less than 70 per plant. Under sufficient sunlight weed stems are shorter with high number of tillers. ZA dominantly affected tiller production which was 133.3 (with ZA) compared with 72.3 (no. ZA). Diuron + 2.4 D herbicide was effective in controlling this weed up to four leaves stage. On weed which has more than four leaves, the herbicide was only effective in reducing tillers number.
