An experiment on fatty acid composition (FAC) from oil palm bunches based on number of loose fruits was conducted on tenera variety planted in 1987. The results showed that there were no significant difference on fatty acid composition and oil/wet mesocarp from six treatments (0; 1-12,5; 13-25; 26-50; 51-75 and 75 percent of loose fruits). While the free fatty acid (FFA) formation increases with the increasing of number of loose fruits. Hence the harvesting criteria for 1 loose fruit/kg FFB is not harmful to the fatty acid composition.
