The economic freshwater fish, Alburnus capito, was investigated for its parasitic fauna. Five species of parasites were recovered: one gill protozoan, Myxobolus pfeifferi; one digenean, Pseudochetosoma salmonicola; one larval cestode, Proteocephalus sp. and two nematodes, Agamospirora sp., and Cucullanus cyprini. The percentages of infection were 4.8, 21.4, 2.4, 4.8 and 2.4%, respectively. No one reported such parasites from this fish before. Therefore, Alburnus capito is considered a new host for all mentioned parasites. The results also indicated that the uninfected fishes and those infected with the four parasites (M. pfeifferi, P. salmonicola, Proteocephalus sp. and Agamospirora sp.) were more or less similar in their characters except the decrease in the body weight in case of the infection with Proteocephalus sp. However, both the infected and the uninfected fishes were different in their body characters compared with those infected with Cucullanus cyprini
