Simulated response of upland rice to phosphorus fertilizer in two acid upland sites in the Philippines

Response of upland rice to fertilizer phosphorus is simulated into two upland sites. Data used in the simulation were extracted from long term fertilizer trials in Puting Lupa, Calamba, Laguna and Claveria, Misamis Oriental [Philippines]. Simulation results indicate that rock phosphate as a source of P is more beneficial in the long term than triple superphosphate. Furthermore, the model estimates the required amount of applied P fertilizer from different sources for any given target P uptake and crop yield. The model can be integrated with other crop models to evaluate the sustainability of a cropping system
