Retardants were applied in the form of spraying in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of growth after cutting the vernal regrowth. Alar-85 and CCC were applied in the form of 0, 0.25, 0.50, 1.0 and 2.0 percent water solutions. The experiment has been established by the method of random blocks in 3 replications. Alar-85 caused a shortening of shoots by 7-13.8 percent and reduction of dry matter content to 10.9 percent, depending on the preparation dose. Chlorcholine chloride led to an increase of the mechanical strength of the 3rd and 5th internode by 5.8-32.6 percent and to yield increment from plot of 15.4-31.7 percent in relation to control
