The paper presents the results of 13-year studies on the response of field bean to its increasing percentage in the crop, from 33, through 50, to 100 percent. The results confirmed susceptibility of which depended on local conditions. The yield decrease was from 13.8 percent in a field experiment to 41 percent in a phytometric experiment compared to the yield obtained with 50 percent of field bean in the crop. The respective decrease amounted to 21.7 percent in relation to the yield obtained in crop rotations with field bean after a two-year break. Infestation of the plant with such pathogens as Cercospora sp. and Ascochyta fabae increased, and so did infestation with weeds, especially with Chenopodium album. Content of phenolic compounds in the field bean environment also increased
