The paper assesses the performance of the agriculture sector against the background of the problems which have plagued its development since independence thirty years ago. The critical factors like agricultural policy, resources and technology are analysed. The partners, farmers, government and aid organization, who collaborate in developing Sierra Leone's agriculture and their roles are highlighted. The importance of government's role, in particular, to the success of the agriculture sector is emphasized.
