Suwan 1 corn seed, harvested in summer and in rainy season were stored for 10 months in the storage house of the Department of Plant Pathology, KU, Bangkhen. Ultraviolet light at 365 nm and minicolumn chromatography were used to examine the amount of fungus and aflatoxin in the seeds. Aflatoxin was not found in the seeds harvested in summer and 5 groups, 9 species of Aspergillus spp. were found in the storage. Corn seeds harvested during rainy season were found to contain aflatoxin in every sample and the amount increased as the storage period prolonged. In the storage house, 6 groups, 10 species of Aspergillus spp. were identified.
