Antifungus and an insect antifeedant compound from Thai mangrove plants [Xylocarpus moluccensis]

In the search for agrochemical from Thai mangrove plants, compound I was isolated from the extraction of wood of Xylocarpus moluccensis with 95 % ethanol. Its physical properties and spectral data confirmed that it was methyl-3-beta-acetoxy-1-oxomeliaca-8(30), 14-dienated which has never been reported to be the constituents of this plant. This compound showed not only antifungal activity against Rhizoctonia solani (% T/C=93), but also antifeedant activity (% T/C=0.8) against boll weeviles.
