Effect of gibberellic acid on pollen development of "Thai super sweet composite 1 DMR"
1986
Songpong Rattanakretakul
Sweet corn seeds (Thai super sweet composite 1 DMR) were soaked with 0, 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1,000 ppm GA3 solution and left over until radicle reached 0.5 cm. Seedlings were transplanted on March 19 and the tassels were collected on May 6, 1985. GA3 200 ppm treatment gave highest number of pollens per tassel. Higher concentrations of GA3 gave lower number of pollens per tassel than that at 200 ppm. Tassel length significantly increased with 200 and 400 ppm treatment. Fresh weight of sweet corn plant at control and 400 ppm of GA3 treatment gave no significant difference. Fresh and dry weights of tassel were highest with 200 ppm treatment. Plant height of GA3 treated at different concentrations was nearly the same. Pollen germination in all concentrations of GA3 was nearly the same (36.70 - 43.44 %)
