Paclobutrazol was applied as foliar spray or soil drench to seven cultivars of litchi plant (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) at Chiang Rai Horticulture Research Centre dated April 1, 1986. Paclobutrazol at concentration of 250, 500 and 1,000 ppm. were applied as foliar spray and at concentration of 1.85, 3.50 and 7.00 gm. (ai) were applied as soil drench to HongHauy cultivar while paclobutrazol at concentration of 1,000 ppm. was applied as foliar spray. Kwang Chao, Kim Jeng (Wai Chee), O Haak (Haak Yip), Chien Lek, Galok Nai Tao and Haew cultivars. The results showed that both foliar spray and soil drench of paclobutrazol had no significant effect on diameter of new shoots, number of leaves per shoot, total leaves and flowering, but foliar spray of 1,000 ppm. paclobutrazol reduced the length of new shoot 33 % in Hong Hauy cultivar and 54-88 % in Kwang Chao, Kim Jeng (Wai Chee) O Haak (Haak Yib), Chien Lak, Galok Nai Toa and Haew cultivars.
