To control smut disease, TCMTB,TCMTB + carboxin, furmecyclox and propiconazol were tested, and compared to the recommended fungicide -triadimefon. The results in plant cane and first ratoon cane stated that propiconazol 200 ppm, 15 minutes and furmecyclox 400 ppm 30 minutes were effective seedpiece treatment, especially propiconazal was applied at lower rate and shorter soaking time than triadimefon. Repeating seed treatment before planting in the severe smut epidermic area is recommended.
